Tyr likes him! Ling actually gained a lot of his respect when he saw how much he cared about Ran Fan and learned about the goals he had back in his world. It also made him think Ling is probably pretty reliable, but he thought that before, too, with how he tried to help Tyr when he was still recovering.
...But learning more about him also made him feel pretty bad for Ling. He would hate to be in that same position of never getting to complete his goals when so many people were riding on that. It's not something he usually thinks of with Ling, but it's there, deeeep down. Mostly he thinks Ling seems like a pretty fun, helpful guy. :|b Who may or may not actually think he's beautiful (?!). I hope they get to beat each other up learning how to use weapons! ;v;
I'll keep it short because I'm still a little brain dead! Like I said, Ling really likes Tyr! He find him easy to talk to and he has fun spending time with him. Tyr is very calm and with his head on his shoulders, but he's interesting...! He respects him, and he also sees him as pretty reliable. To be honest, though, he didn't actually think much of him (in the sense it was a "ah i like this person" but not a "me and this person could be friends") until Tyr tried to calm Ling down when Ran Fan disappeared. He appreciated it a lot! And talking with him later on still, both telling him about himself and hearing about Tyr's past/some of his situation sort of made him see him in a different light. Again, the "he and I could be friends"! He already got the feeling Tyr had more going on than he let on, but their conversation sort of confirmed that, and he is sort of automatically pinged by someone who went through a succession war!!! and fought for his ideals.
I know we haven't played it out yet but I like to think they are totally training together!! But let's thread it out one of these days :D
Also yes he thinks Tyr is pretty attractive though it's like, you know when you see someone and you think "oh that person's pretty hot" and that's it. He wouldn't have even flirted with him under normal circumstances! Though if Tyr ever showed real interest he would definitely take him up on the chance because why not.
We should definitely play out the training >:|b Whenever you have time?
As for regrets and things left behind, what he regrets the most is just dying. And not even in Suikoden world! He didn't exactly want to leave the City since, really, it was like a vacation: Time didn't pass while he was there and he eventually found a way to seal the Soul Eater. And Ted was there when Tyr died, too, so POLY WAS REALLY GOOD TO HIM.
But that's just baw baw he can get over that. What he really hates about dying is that he doesn't have the Soul Eater anymore and he doesn't know what happened to it. He doesn't know if Ted got it or if it went to another person in the City (who might not even be from his world!) since he doesn't remember how he died and thus doesn't remember if he actually got to pass it on before dying. Even if that was the case, though, he doesn't know if him not having it would have any negative effects back in the Suikoden world. The whole point of him having it and never giving it up is that he'd protect it from people and make sure no-one uses it to KILL EVERYONE like Windy would have. And that doesn't even get into what happens if the rune just doesn't exist in his world anymore because he'll never be able to return...
I see Tyr as being the type who puts less emphasis on how he feels and more emphasis on how other people are affected, so he doesn't have as many personal regrets. Also most of the people close to him are dead or died once so...he doesn't...worry about never seeing them again... ._. Given how he disappeared for three years, I don't even think he'd mind disappearing again, either, if not for Gremio and the whole thing with the Soul Eater. Gremio'd probably be the only person he'd really feel bad about leaving.

I'M SORRY THAT GOT LONG.
Do you have any headcanon for Ling's childhood?
